Anesthesia Options
We understand that many patients who come into our office may be nervous about an upcoming procedure and want to provide you with high-quality and compassionate care, which is why we offer a variety of anesthetic options to make your experience pleasant and comfortable, including local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and IV sedation.
Types of Anesthesia
We offer several forms of anesthesia to ensure your comfort:
Local Anesthesia
If you've undergone a simple procedure with your general dentist, you probably had local anesthesia, which simply numbs the area for surgery.
Nitrous Oxide
Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide allows the patient to remain conscious while providing a sense of tranquility and pain relief.
Intravenous (IV) Sedation
IV anesthesia allows you to enter a state of deep relaxation or deep sleep. Depending on the depth of IV anesthesia, patients have no memory of the procedure and the surgery seems to take no time at all.
Can Oral Surgeons Perform Anesthesia?
As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Anderson has received a significant amount of additional training in the administration of anesthesia. He received a dental degree and completed a hospital-based surgical residency program, which provides him with the highest level of in-office sedation and anesthesia training.
The hands-on experience working alongside medical anesthesiologists qualifies him to evaluate patients for anesthesia, safely deliver the anesthetic, and effectively monitor patients during and after surgery. His amazing team also undergoes rigorous training and certification to administer anesthesia in a safe and comfortable environment.
